Braids Extensions
Braids are always a good option when you're sick and bored of your hair, but don't want something permanent. Also, for those who have cut heir hair but trying to grow it out again, and are at that lovely "can't do anything with it, so I'll wear a hat for two months" middle phase, it's a great alternative. You'll be amazed at how much you hair has grown after taking the braids out, especially from not combing it or messing with it too much for two months.
You can choose regular style braids, or cornrows (braided tightly to the head, going back). You could also do a combo braids and dred extensions. If your hair is longer than one or two inches, you can do anything. You can go down to your waist, to the shoulders or just three inches longer. You could go from micro size braids to fat size braids. Just remember the thinner and longer the braids, the longer you'll be sitting in that chair.
The good thing about braids is that they hardly need any care. The main thing is to not wash them or wet them too often as that will cause your hair to fluff out of the braid and they won't look as when the style was first created, although, fluffy braids are perfectly acceptable if that is the look you are going for!
You don't need to wash your head with shampoo. You can rinse your head with a vinegar rinse (nine parts water, one part regular vinegar in an old shampoo bottle) added to a little conditioner to help cleanse the scalp.
Dreadlock Extensions
The dreadlock extensions are installed similar to the synthetic extensions, and the same hair is used. You can choose the thickness of the dreds and length. As with to the braids, you hardly need to do anything to them. You can rinse your hair the same as with the braids. The most important thing is that if you get dred extensions installed with your own hair, that you separate your hair from the extension every day so that your own hair won't wrap around the dred. We also recommend wearing the dread extensions for no longer than three to four weeks.
If your hair is a few inches long, you can get dreadlock extensions and they will look like you have long, natural dreds of your own. You could wear these for about six weeks. If your hair is more than a few inches long or very long, you could get dred extensions either in you natural hair color or brighter color. This will fill your hair out a lot and this way you can have some dreds without having to dred your won hair. As said before, we recommend wearing dreds this way up to four weeks.
